About

I am a wildland firefighter who spends the better part of my summers running a hotshot crew based in northwestern Colorado. My career has led me to a passionate search for the best food, the best exercise, the best health that I can possibly be in at any given point in my life. Most recently, I enrolled in New York-based Institute for Integrative Nutrition, from which I will graduate as a certified Health Coach. As I progress, among other things I am recognizing that the definition of “the best health” changes and grows with my life and where I choose to live it.

About a year ago, I was lucky enough to find the fabulous sport of roller derby, which has–like my job–demanded the highest physical excellence and stamina I can possibly give it. It has enriched my life in ways that I can’t possibly describe, opening me to new friendships and experiences with amazing women that I would never have otherwise ad the opportunity to meet.

I am hoping that this blog will allow me the ability to give something back to the sport that has not just changed but improved my life in so many ways. I am hoping that as I move through my own search for fast and healthy fuel for running/biking/skiing/skating/jumping and whatever other adventures I might find, I can share a some of the knowledge that I find along the way.
